OpenAI is set to revise the "personality" of GPT-5 in light of user feedback. Sam Altman stated on X that the company aims to make the model "warmer than the current version, but not as irritable as GPT-4o."
This decision comes after criticism on social media, where users complained about the overly "corporate" demeanor of the new model compared to its predecessors. Many noted that GPT-5 feels less natural in conversation and has lost the "personality" that earlier versions possessed.
It is worth mentioning that shortly after the release of GPT-5, OpenAI allowed paying users to revert to GPT-4o via the model selector. Many users indicated that transitioning to GPT-5 meant losing not just a tool but a companion.
