According to the Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, last week, 2626 residents of Odesa were reported with ARVI and flu, of which 80.1% were children under 17 years old. The incidence rate of ARVI and flu in Odesa is below the epidemic threshold by 50.3%, indicating a low level of epidemic activity.
In terms of COVID-19, four residents of Odesa tested positive last week, all being children under 17.
The number of acute intestinal infection cases decreased by 16.6%, totaling 80 cases, with 63.7% being children.
Cases of other infections, such as viral hepatitis and airborne diseases, were reported as isolated incidents. No cases of measles, diphtheria, rubella, or tetanus were registered.
Health professionals from the Disease Control Center reported nine cases of whooping cough, with eight in children and one in an adult.
Doctors remind that to effectively protect against whooping cough, children should receive vaccinations at 2, 4, 6, and 18 months. The whooping cough vaccine is usually included in combination vaccines that also protect against diphtheria and tetanus. City clinics in Odesa are well-stocked with DTP vaccines. Vaccination is free, and appointments should be made with a pediatrician.
